Iron Man 3 has been shooting in Wilmington, North Carolina for a couple months now but it seems the wet weather and Robert Downey Jr.'s recent injury have created an issue for the film and it is reportedly running behind schedule.

"With the State of North Carolina having back-to-back extremely wet months, 'Iron Man 3' is way behind their production schedule," per a report from ComicBook.com.

It remains to be scene if this could delay the release of the movie but as of right now its May 3, 2013 date is set in stone. This is not to say it couldn't be pushed back a few weeks, if production continues to run behind schedule.

This is a troubling sign for Marvel Studios since they were considering using Wilmington for another film production (or two) in the future as well. If they schedule production earlier in the year then maybe they won't run into weather issues.

Whichever way you look at it, maybe Marvel Studios should have called up the city government in Cleveland, Ohio to go back and shoot Iron Man 3 instead of going down to North Carolina. Cleveland was where they shot just over a month's worth of footage for The Avengers and there is no reason to not go back except for the fact there is no sound stages available in Cleveland, which was probably the deal breaker to shoot in Wilmington anyway.
