Iron Man 3 News: Tony Stark and James Rhodes to be Highly Competitive

During the 2012 San Diego Comic Con Iron Man 3 actor Don Cheadle (James Rhodes) confirmed War Machine would have a "new look" in the third installment of the franchise. A few weeks back, Cheadle also told MTV Splash there will be "suit envy" with Tony Stark too.

"There's suit envy, which is fun. 'Who's really the big dog?' We just get to play with that more," Cheadle said. "Robert and I always have a lot of fun when we're acting together."

This competitive spirit began when they were together and faced off against a bunch of Hammer drones, and then Whiplash, at the end of Iron Man 2. It also seems to be building into something bigger.

Since Rhodes has been confirmed to be wearing the new Iron Patriot suit, you can bet there will be some increased friction between the two friends.

"I think that's kind of the tension that is created for Tony and for Rhodey, because like who's really got the stick, and who really gets to decide what happens in certain situations?" Cheadle recently said to MTV Splash, in a more recent interview. "And that's what will be a lot of fun to explore in this film too."

We've got a private sector and a public sector, or rather a military version of Iron Man. And I think there is a desire from the powers that be to make sure that those things are distinguished and distinguishable so that we know where everybody stands."

The dynamic between the two friends seems to be challenged more than what has been seen in the past two Iron Man flicks and should make for an interested sub-plot within the main story of Iron Man 3.
