SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Has Second Biggest Domestic Opening Weekend Ever; Surpasses $600 Million Worldwide
The numbers are in and only one movie has ever opened bigger, domestically, than SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME and that movie is AVENGERS: ENDGAME.
According to Deadline, who got their tally direct from Sony, the new Spider-Man movie took in $260 million at the domestic box office. This official number squeaks by the previous second biggest domestic opening for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR which opened with $257M.
Internationally, SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME took in an additional $340 million and this was down without its theatrical release in China.
Worldwide, Spidey has already eclipsed $600 million!
Great review scores, audience scores, and a very positive word of mouth going into the upcoming holiday weekend and New Year's weekend should get SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME to break the $1 billion worldwide mark. And again, that will be done without the assistance of the world's second largest movie market.
