Mahershala Ali is done waiting around for BLADE as the actor told GQ he has officially moved on from the role as Marvel Studios has not been able to get development of the film off the ground for many years now. "...you had me under contract, they have billions of dollars, if they wanted to do the movie, we would’ve done the movie. So we’re not doing the movie."
Ali was first introduced to be the new Blade back in 2019 during Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. Unfortunately, the studio couldn't crack the code for a script after trying several writers to develop a script and story for it.
