Lucasfilm Makes it Official as Taika Waititi Will Co-Write and Direct a STAR WARS Movie

Writer and director Taika Waititi is both a talented and very lucky person as he has already played in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with THOR: RAGNAROK, and the upcoming THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER. and in the Star Wars universe, as he not only directed an episode in Season 1 of THE MANDALORIAN, but he also played the role of IG-11 in the Disney+ series, too.

So it makes sense that Disney and Lucasfilm would make is official and give the man his own Star Wars film.

No word of what his film could be about, but here is the official press release from Lucasfilm and Disney:

"Academy Award® winner Taika Waititi, who recently won Best Adapted Screenplay for Jojo Rabbit and directed the widely-acclaimed first season finale episode of The Mandalorian on Disney+, will direct and co-write a new Star Wars feature film for theatrical release.

"Joining Waititi on the screenplay will be Academy Award® nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho), who received a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film of the Year on the three-time Oscar-winning film, 1917."

Release date has yet to be announced.
