James Mangold Confirmed to Direct INDIANA JONES 5

Back in February, which feels like an eternity ago after being locked in for month under quarantine, a report hit the web stating how director Steven Spielberg was out to helm INDIANA JONES 5 and James Mangold (THE WOLVERINE, LOGAN, FORD V. FERRARI) was in for directorial duties.

Nothing has been said in the time since that report, but now producer Frank Marshall has confirmed that Mangold is indeed in the director seat to Collider.

"His love of the franchise. He’s a wonderful filmmaker. I think he also has a relationship with Harrison. It was all of the right pieces coming together, at the right time.”

Marshall also confirmed that Spielberg will still be on as a producer.

"Steven is staying on as a producer, so we’ve got the best of everything."

With a change of directors, INDIANA JONES 5 has gone back to the writing stage while still having a release timeframe in summer 2022.
