According to Deadline, Cavill is back in talks with Warner Bros. to reprise his role last seen in JUSTICE LEAGUE — and even that will soon be "fixed" when ZACK SYNDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE cut arrives exclusively on HBO Max in 2021. Deadline reports:
"While there is not a Man of Steel sequel in the works, we’re hearing that Henry Cavill is in talks to reprise his role as Superman in the Warner Bros. DC Universe.
"We hear Cavill could come back in a couple of different ways, not a standalone film, but there are plans to put him back in the big red cape again sources with knowledge tell us."
Sounds like fans could see Superman is either of the upcoming DC movies SHAZAM! 2 (alongside actor Zachary Levi) or BLACK ADAM (perhaps versus actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's title character), but even that could change as MAN OF STEEL 2 could happen if the studio finds (or already found) the right director and script for a sequel.
Regardless, news have been quite positive for DC movie fans everywhere over the past week.
UPDATE: Here's a little something extra to add to this news from one of Variety's reporters:
Cavill’s return is only a cameo and would likely have him appearing in a film where he has previous ties with title character (AQUAMAN, SHAZAM). Sources say not for BLACK ADAM or WW. New MAN OF STEEL film still way off with no certainty Henry would return to star.
