Unfortunately, as the days and weeks have gone by, while we are all isolated in our homes, it sounds like the biggest pop culture event in the world will also fall to the pandemic.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the canceling of SDCC 2020 seems like it is coming very soon:
"They are evaluating any financial liability they might have with a cancellation, and once they determine that, they’ll make a decision," San Diego Tourism Authority CEO Joe Terzi said. "Based on our knowledge of the event, it will be very difficult for them to have that event in July. With other events you could do things to keep people separate, but Comic-Con is a whole different animal, it’s a massive sea of people."
It will be sad for fans everywhere if SDCC is canceled, but that's the kind of year 2020 has become... one of sadness and disappointment.
Organizers have hinted at the possibility of bringing the event online and being some kind of virtual event.
Be safe. Stay at home. And wash your hands.
