James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD Cast is Growing

Writer and director James Gunn was re-hired by Disney and Marvel Studios to complete his GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY trilogy after he was briefly fired for old inappropriate tweets. But he will shoot and release his take on Warner Bros. and DC's THE SUICIDE SQUAD before returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This is not a reboot as a few from the first film will reprise their roles, yet there are many new faces being added to the film's cast, too. According to Deadline, DOCTOR WHO actor Peter Capaldi is joining the growing cast as well as SNL comedian Pete Davidson.

They will be joining a cast that sees the return of: Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag). Plus, new additions: Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher), Flula Borg, Steve Agee (King Shark), Nathan Fillion, and Taika Waititi.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD reportedly started filming at the end of this month at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta and releases on August 6, 2021.
