D23 Expo Reveal Exposed: Obi-Wan Kenobi to Return in His Own Disney+ Series With Ewan McGregor

For several years now rumors have circulated that actor Ewan McGregor would reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a standalone Star Wars movie. That was until Disney pulled the plug on the 'A Star Wars Story' movies (for now) after SOLO bombed in the worldwide box office.

According to Deadline, McGregor is confirmed to be in talks to return to the role, but instead of in a movie he will return in his own big budget streaming series for Disney+ streaming. The Hollywood Reporter has corroborated this report too, while another report by Cinelinx claims McGregor has officially signed on.

Online chatter alleges this might have been the big reveal during the Disney+ presentation at the D23 Expo in Anaheim next week, but apparently loose lips have sunk that surprise ship. However, the crowd in attendance (including this guy) should still be elated to have McGregor joining the Jedi ranks once again and perhaps some concept art will be shown.

The actor has said many times over the past few years that he is ready to return to the role if Lucasfilm and Disney ever asked... they finally did.
