CAPTAIN MARVEL Thursday Night Box Office Numbers in the Low $20 Million Range

There will be many comparisons between WONDER WOMAN and CAPTAIN MARVEL now that the latter is finally in theaters. WONDER WOMAN was a breakthrough on many levels for the film industry (despite its terrible final battle), but the fact remains that these two films will continue the never ending 'DC versus Marvel' narrative that has gone on for decades.

So it makes sense to compare the Thursday night opening numbers of WONDER WOMAN and CAPTAIN MARVEL. This will also be one of many comparisons between these two women as box office performance will be closely watched.

According to Deadline, CAPTAIN MARVEL is looking to double the Thursday numbers of WONDER WOMAN. DC's female superhero took in $11 million during its preview night, but CAPTAIN MARVEL is estimated at $20 million to $24 million.

Wow.

With an opening weekend projection of over $125 million, CAPTAIN MARVEL is looking to become Marvel Studios' second biggest introductory solo movie release only behind last year's $202 million brought in by BLACK PANTHER. However, it will have a very long way to go to best the $412M domestic, $404M International, and $821M worldwide gross total of WONDER WOMAN.
