VENOM 2 Lands a Writer as the Sequel Moves Forward into Development

VENOM was easily 2018's most shocking box office winner as it bested the worldwide totals of DEADPOOL 2, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE FALLOUT, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, and many other big name films. The movie had a $100 million production budget so its $855 million global haul secured itself a sequel.

Now, VENOM 2 is officially a go as Variety reports Sony Pictures has hired VENOM screenwriter Kelly Marcel to write the sequel. Sony has also secured an October 2, 2020 release date slot for an "untitled Marvel sequel" and that seems very likely to be for VENOM 2.

Tom Hardy will return and it is anticipated that actor Woody Harrelson will return as well since he was seen a Cletus Kasady in the end credits scene. And Marvel fans all know how Kasady becomes Carnage in Marvel Comics universe.
