Warner Bros. has finally done it with one of their DC Extended Universe movies!
This weekend AQUAMAN has officially joined Batman as the only other DC superhero movie character to join the $1 billion box office club. It wasn't Superman. It wasn't Wonder Woman. It wasn't a Justice League team-up movie... it was freakin' Aquaman.
Believe it, as AQUAMAN currently sits with a worldwide box office total of $1.02 billion. The character who has been the butt of pop culture jokes for decades has broke that mold.
The only other DC superhero movies to achieve this milstone are Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES films.
What this means is that there is a very, very large DC superhero movie fanbase with a huge appetite for better DCEU movies than the ones of the recent past (WONDER WOMAN excluded, of course) and hopefully the studio can ride this wave to more success with its upcoming DCEU films slate.
