The estimates are in and AQUAMAN has brought in a U.S. domestic opening of $67 million — $72 million when you add early previews and Amazon Prime screenings. The overseas numbers are staggering though, as AQUAMAN has been out in many International regions for several weeks and is already nearing $500 million in the worldwide box office.
Its $67 million opening is by far the lowest of all the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) films as it could not surpass the $93 million opening of JUSTICE LEAGUE. However, reports are already coming out stating early discussions are taking place at Warner Bros. for AQUAMAN 2. Not to mention AQUAMAN is only the second DCEU movie to have a "fresh" score on RottenTomatoes with its 64-percent right along with WONDER WOMAN (who has a 93-percent score).
AQUAMAN is in fact a a huge hit in China as it has brought in nearly $200 million in the world's second largest movie market.
AQUAMAN easily defeated its weekend competition as SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, BUMBLEBEE, and MARY POPPINS RETURNS are all vying for second place this weekend.
