Netflix Cancels Marvel's IRON FIST Series

After an absolute horrible first season, Netflix gave Marvel's IRON FIST another shot by green lighting Season 2. After a somewhat improved Season 2, Netflix has officially canceled IRON FIST, per Deadline, who writes:

“'Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix,' said the Disney-owned comic giant and the streamer in a joint statement to Deadline today. 'Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners,' Marvel and Netflix added. 'We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.'”

The report goes on to imply how there's a chance IRON FIST could get revived on Disney's streaming platform, which launches in 2019. But those chances are somewhat slim as Disney already has at least two Marvel series in-the-works by Marvel Studios, not Marvel TV, for LOKI and SCARLET WITCH, with Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen to reprise their respective roles.

Netflix is still definitely in the Marvel superhero business as DAREDEVIL Season 3 is set to premiere on October 19, JESSICA JONES Season 3 has been green lit, THE PUNISHER Season 2 has been in production, and LUKE CAGE Season 3 is expected to be green lit soon.

No word on if THE DEFENDERS will get a Season 2, but Iron Fist could (and probably will) appear in any of Netflix's other Marvel series, and there's always a chance Season 3 of LUKE CAGE could be the much wanted 'Heroes For Hire' comic book adaptation.
