BIRDS OF PREY Finds its Huntress and Black Canary Actresses

BIRDS OF PREY is moving right along toward principle photography as actresses for the co-starring roles of Huntress and Black Canary have been cast. According to Deadline, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead will return to the comic book movie genre after her turn as Ramona Flowers in SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD and she will be Huntress. Actress Jurnee Smollett-Bell will be Black Canary.

In this movie, Huntress will reportedly be a former mafia princess who has turned vigilante after seeing her parents killed. Black Canary is street fighter who is known for her shrieking cry.

The two women will join Margot Robbie as she reprises her role as Harley Quinn in this female team-up movie as they will reportedly fight a crime lord to protect Gotham as Batman is absent from being the city's protector. It is rumored the crime lord may be the Batman villain the Black Mask, but this has yet to be confirmed.

BIRDS OF PREY is set to begin filming in early 2019 and will release in the U.S. on February 7, 2020.
