BIRDS OF PREY: Margot Robbie Confirms R-Rating, a Smaller Budget, and More

The next time DC fans will see actress Margot Robbie reprise her SUICIDE SQUAD role of Harley Quinn will most likely be in the female-led "girl gang" movie BIRDS OF PREY. The film project seems to be further along than anything else Harley Quinn could appear in right now. Robbie is leading the development charge on it as one of its producers with director Cathy Yan at the helm and screenwriter Christina Hodson, too.

Warner Bros. does not have a release date set for BIRDS OF PREY but Robbie has confirmed to FlickeringMyth the film will be an rated-R romp as well as have a smaller budget. She has also confirmed the movie is slated to begin filming in January 2019.

With a production start date seemingly set there's a good chance BIRDS OF PREY could make a surprise appearance at San Diego Comic-Con International 2018 this month with a possible main cast announcement and a potential release date reveal.

Robbie did speak with Yahoo!Movies and also confirmed Harley Quinn will have a new look costume in the ensemble film with the rest of main cast being very diverse. Who will make up the rest of the main cast remains a mystery. In the DC Comics version of the team the following characters have been on its roster including: Batgirl, Black Canary, Huntress, Catwoman, Hawkgirl, Power Girl, Poison Ivy, and Vixen.
