The focus of the panel was five different games. Three of which were mobile games, one was a VR title, and the last was PlayStation 4’s Spider-Man. Personally, I was hoping there would be some surprise news about the upcoming Avengers game from Square Enix, but alas. Let’s run down what they did show for each of these games.
On the VR front you had Marvel Powers by Oculus and developer Sanzaru. It’s a four- player game that stars a roster of around fifteen characters, all from the current movies. The roster will also include two X-Men characters in the form of Storm and Iceman. The game includes stages like Wakanda, Knowhere, and Asgard. The game, which launches on July 26, will also debut with a special Oculus Rift bundle on July 31.
The updates around Marvel’s mobile titles were less substantial and closer to glorified patch notes. In Marvel Strike Force, there was the announcement that Ms. Marvel will be joining the game. Deadpool will be joining Marvel Future Fight, while Marvel’s Contest of Champions will be getting Korg, Heimdall, and Red Skull.
The true star of the show was Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4. Coming in September, a new trailer was shown, revealing that Silver Sabre and Norman Osborn will be among the cast of villains. A new suit was show, called the Velocity Suit, and it’s kind of a cross between the Iron Spider and the regular Spider-Man suit.
A new PS4 Pro bundle was also announced, with a fancy looking PS4 Pro system that’s decked out in the Spider-Man logo. Mondo will also be releasing a copy of the game’s soundtrack. Meanwhile Titan will be releasing an artbook based on the game.
