MCM Comic Con Birmingham: DEADPOOL Actress Brianna Hildebrand Panel Review

BIRMINGHAM, England -- Actress Brianna Hildebrand kicked off her panel discussing her audition progress for DEADPOOL and revealed how she did not even know the role she was auditioning for was actually DEADPOOL. Everything was kept very secretive, and even once she found out what the film was, she admits never knowing much about superheroes and she still doesn’t.

She swiftly moved on to the famous story of having photoshopped pictures of herself with Ryan Reynolds. She told the crowd how she took copies of the photos on set to give out and it turned out to be a good icebreaker; even though Reynolds thought it was pretty weird and had no idea what he should do with his photo.

Hildebrand mentioned how there was lots of improvisation on set and Negasonic’s “fuck you’re old” line was improvised by her and made it to the final cut, as I’m sure fans can recall. However, her lack of experience compared to others on set made her weary to improvise with the concern that it might not be good and cost the production money to have to reshoot a scene afterwards.

It’s clear that Hildebrand and Negasonic could not be further apart in real life now as she has a laugh about herself with the crowd despite mentioning how she can relate to being a moody teenager and saw a lot of her younger self in Negasonic.

When asked about working with Josh Brolin, she has nothing but compliments and says how the first time she met Brolin he was in his trailer making a bitmoji of himself.

On the subject of DEADPOOL 2 everything is very hush as she is not able to give anything away, but when questioned about the speculated reshoots, she does say how reshoots are not always done because things are bad and goes on to explain how they are often done to add in more of the things that people liked in test screenings.

Whilst it was a very straightforward panel with questions coming from the emcee and fans, it was interesting to get insight into Hildebrand's thoughts on her role in the Deadpool films.
