DEADPOOL Animated Series Drama: Stephen Glover Briefly Talks About Leaving the Show

Since Marvel TV moved on from FX, and both Donald and Stephen Glover working on a DEADPOOL animated series a few days ago, the story has moved to asking, "WHY?!?"

The Glover's are a hot commodity right now as their FX show ATLANTA is already an award-winner after one season as well as being critically acclaimed. Their second series, to bring to the FX network, was supposed to be an adult-themed, mature animated DEADPOOL series, but Marvel TV chose a different direction.

Yesterday, Donald Glover tweeted out a brilliant 14-page faux script — which he has since deleted, but what goes up on the Internet stays up on the Internet somewhere else — opening up about the reasons why, in subtle fashion, while throwing shade in the direction of Marvel TV for seemingly wanting a show that was able to sell Deadpool toys to kids. Thus, assuming a more Freeform-like kid-friendly show. (Again, there is lots of speculation here since the Glover's have not confirmed exactly what happened, but you can read in-between the lines of Donald's faux script by clicking right here.)

This morning, Stephen had tweeted out some corroborative information about not being a part of the show anymore. He specifically cited there was in fact a Taylor Swift episode (he says was hilarious) and how their DEADPOOL animated series would have given Adult Swim's RICK AND MORTY series a run for their money.

Unfortunately, Stephen's tweets have since been deleted, but TheWrap has the following transcribed from his deleted tweets:

“'There really was a Taylor Swift episode,' Stephen Glover wrote. 'It was HILARIOUS. And it definitely was the last straw lol.'
"He continued with a second tweet that read: 'Our show wasn’t too black. It wasn’t really that black at all. But we definitely wanted to give ‘Rick and Morty’ a run for their money and I think we would have. Proud of the gang.'”

Seems like Stephen may have had a bit of a knee-jerk reaction by tweeting about the drama surrounding him, his brother, and FX no longer being a part of the show. But what is tweeted usually is seen by enough people to be either screencapped or reported on, as TheWrap has done here.

Marvel TV is now rumored to potentially be shopping this show to another network. But in the end, fans will always wonder what the Glover's would have made and sadly we all will probably never really know.
