Disney Was Interested in Buying 20th Century Fox But Talks Stalled; Should Buy X-MEN and FANTASTIC FOUR Rights Regardless

Don't get too excited just yet but an initial report by CNBC states that Disney had approached 20th Century Fox to buy all-things movie studio-related, the Fox TV production company, FX Networks, and National Geographic, plus a few other odds and ends. Not in the deal were Fox network, Fox News, and Fox Sports as the Mouse knows the purchase of these properties could be seen as a monopoly in the eyes of the U.S. Government. This is due to Disney already owning ABC and ESPN.

But let's not bury the lead here because this would have meant Fox relinquishing their live action rights for all-things X-Men, mutant, and Fantastic Four. Bringing them back home to Marvel Studios.

Again... don't get too excited because Bloomberg has already reported that talks between Disney and 20th Century Fox have stalled after several weeks of discussion.

Once again... I did say to not get too excited... yet.

Nothing is official, plus the government would most likely have to approve a Disney acquisition of this magnitude. This wouldn't be the first time that Disney has bought up other studios. Under Bob Iger the Mouse has acquired Pixar, Marvel, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm.

With Thanos and the events in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS 4 set to redefine the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward, bringing in some mutants, perhaps Dr. Doom, as well as a Wolverine and Deadpool could have been seen as a welcome addition to the MCU in 2020 or beyond. Unless this buyout means no more Deadpool because Disney doesn't do mature-rated content anymore, then many Marvel fans will say BOO!

Worst case scenario, if the government does not approve this acquisition, Disney should just buy the rights back for all-things X-Men and Fantastic Four no matter what. It would honestly be a much cheaper option.

Most Marvel fans will tell you that they are just dying to see Wolverine alongside of the Avengers fighting none other than one of Marvel's greatest villains... Dr. Doom.
