THOR: RAGNAROK opens this weekend in the United States, but it has opened in several (not all) International markets with an estimated $107 million this weekend.
This is ahead of the International opening numbers of recent Marvel Studios releases GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 ($106M) and DOCTOR STRANGE ($87M). Please note that SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING is not being considered here since it was distributed by Sony, who opened the film worldwide this summer, except for China.
Going into its U.S. opening this weekend, THOR: RAGNAROK is projecting a $100 million to upwards of $125 million. These potential totals would be a significant improvement over the $65M domestic opening for THOR and the $85M opening for THOR: THE DARK WORLD.
