SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Approaching $500 Million Worldwide; Director Jon Watts in Talks to Return

Due to Disney's D23 Expo last weekend our box office report was delayed, but nothing is holding back SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING in its second weekend in theaters.

Domestically, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING took in just over $45 million. As of the publishing of this post, the move has brought in over $212 million in North America.

Overseas, Spider-Man is also very well as it took in $72 million last weekend. Right now, Homecoming is nearing $500 million worldwide and currently sits with $472 million.

With a sequel already green lit, for July 5, 2019, Sony and Marvel Studios are moving forward with the next chapter in actor Tom Holland's Peter Parker and Spider-Man story arc. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter says director Jon Watts is now in talks to helm the sequel.

Finally, the sequel is reportedly set to begin development next month and it is aiming for an April or May timeframe to start filming next year.

Fans will next see Holland as Spider-Man in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, which releases in the U.S. on May 4, 2018.
