Alleged NEW MUTANTS Animated Sequence Reveals Main Villain, STRANGER THINGS Comparison and Cast Rumors

Please note that the following information is being hailed as rumor right now because Fox and NEW MUTANTS writer / director Josh Boone have yet to officially confirm any of it.

According to ComingSoon, they have been sent an animated sequence and have been told the movie will be hitting theaters possibly as early as spring 2018. And it is also being called a "Stephen King meets John Hughes" type of horror movie with another comparison to Netflix's STRANGER THINGS.

If you're not familiar with the comics, that is in fact the Demon Bear who is allegeldy the main villain in the movie. This report does claim that past casting rumors are accurate, too.

In case you missed those casting rumors, here's what we wrote when that rumor hit back in March:

"It seems like Wolfsbane, Magik, Cannonball, Sunspot and Mirage will fill out the team. As of right now... GAME OF THRONES actor Maisie Williams might land, or has already landed, the role of Wolfsbane and Anya Taylor-Joy is been eyed for Magik.
"The site also states actor James McAvoy will have a some role in NEW MUTANTS as Charles Xavier as well as Alexandria Shipp will reprise her role from X-MEN: APOCALYPSE as Storm. Fox has yet to comment or confirm any of this, as of the publishing of this post."

So that's the latest on the NEW MUTANTS movie. If Fox is planning for a spring 2018 release then look for it to start filming sometime in spring 2017, which means casting news, and more, should start up very, very soon.
