Editorial: No offense to actor Pierce Brosnan but current rumors that the 63-year-old could be playing Cable in DEADPOOL 2 feel off; like 20 years too late. At least this was my initial thought when a photo of Brosnan, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds first hit the web about three weeks ago.
As soon as I saw the photo I also said to myself, "Here we go, time to strap in because the rumor train is about to depart."
The rumor train departed the days after the photo was shared with pretty much every website and blog (but not us) writing posts about how it could mean Brosnan might be in the running for the role of Cable. The rumor has gained more steam as talk from the Meet the Movie Press on Youtube has now touched on the topic.
While websites and blogs are now reporting this unconfirmed and speculative rumor to add fuel to the rumor fires, it needs to be noted how the actual reporters who said this rumor have not reported it on their own respective sites. And we are talking about a reporter who writes for Variety, so if Variety's editorial staff did not see this rumor as being enough to publish it to their site first, then there is reasonable doubt to not believe any of it.
However, in this same Youtube episode, there is talk of if Brosnan really would be Cable. This brings me to stop thinking how Brosnan might be Cable and instead I'm now thinking how he could be targeted for a potential villain role in DEADPOOL 2. So I'll just say that if this is really the case then I think he could make a really interesting Mr. Sinister.
For as much as I would love to see actor Bryan Cranston as Mr. Sinister, who said he would love to take on the role, Brosnan as the mutant villain scientist is even more intriguing to me than him as Cable. Plus, if you want to bring Cable to the big screen for the first time I think it would be best to cast a younger actor in the role since many future film appearances would be needed.

DEADPOOL 2 is currently in development and is rumored to begin filming at some point in the coming months.
