Warner Bros. Reportedly Hires 2 Screenwriters to Write GREEN LANTERN CORPS

If there's one DC super hero movie that has gone somewhat under-the-radar it is GREEN LANTERN CORPS. Officially revealed to be a part of the ever-growing DC Cinematic Universe at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, there hasn't been much news or information about DC's version of a space opera buddy cop movie.

There was a quick tease during a DC Films preview special on The CW in January 2016, but since then things have been very silent. Until today.

Deadline has an exclusive stating Warner Bros. has brought on two screenwriters to pen the script for GREEN LANTERN CORPS. The two names are David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes. Goyer has written many super hero movie scripts in the past including writer credits for: BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, MAN OF STEEL, BATMAN BEGINS, all three BLADE films as well as several others. The story for GREEN LANTERN CORPS is created by Goyer and DC Films head Geoff Johns, who will also serve as executive producer with Jon Berg.

Here's a little more info from Deadline:

"The new version is described as Lethal Weapon in space, and it’s based on a comic book origin story. The focus will be on two characters: Hal Jordan, and John Stewart. The latter is an African American Marine sniper before he joined the Lantern Corp and the story very much focuses on his relationship with Jordan and the Corps."

GREEN LANTERN CORPS is set to release on July 24, 2020.
