GREEN LANTERN CORPS: Studio Executive and Producer Update its Development

The last GREEN LANTERN movie was a disaster. And while leading actor Ryan Reynolds has now fully recovered from that super hero flop, in last month's release of DEADPOOL, Warner Bros. would like to recover from GREEN LANTERN, too.

The studio is beginning to lay the groundwork for a reboot of the franchise with 2020's GREEN LANTERN CORPS. However, this movie is so far away there won't be a Green Lantern appearance in the first JUSTICE LEAUGE movie, albeit there could be hints or an Easter Egg.

This is heartbreaking for many Green Lantern fans so in Entertainment Weekly's new issue, they caught up with studio executive Greg Silverman and producer Charles Rovan. Silverman discussed the development of GREEN LANTERN CORPS.

“Every beat of the movie is not yet worked out," Silverman said. "So there’s the possibility that he may or may not be in Justice League 2. For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in Justice League 2, or barring that, a movie after.”

Rovan, then, spoke a bit more about Green Lantern in the DCEU.

“[Green Lantern] is an incredible character," Rovan said. "He’s actually multiple incredible characters There’s real opportunity there. We didn’t do a great job on that first Green Lantern movie. This is a character who deserves to be treated in the same way that Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman are being treated now, which is with great reverence. I guess I can say to the Green Lantern fans: if they can be patient with us, I think they’ll be really happy.”
