Marvel Studios Head Says BLACK PANTHER is Not Really an Origin Story While CAPTAIN MARVEL Definitely is

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR brilliantly introduced not one but two new heroes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man and Black Panther. Since their initial intros are done and out of the way, Spidey can go on and be your Friendly Neighborhood hero in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING and Black Panther can deal with the fallout from the aftermath of Civil War in BLACK PANTHER.

While speaking with CinemaBlend, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said the following about the origin tales in both of the studios upcoming solo movies BLACK PANTHER and CAPTAIN MARVEL.

"[Black] Panther is not really an origin story, since we saw him already in Civil War. But his standalone certainly introduces you to 99-percent of his world that you never saw. And Captain Marvel is certainly an origin. It's an origin story from the start."

Regardless of how much a movie is a legit origin story, both Black Panther and Captain Marvel have tremendous amounts of hype surrounding them from the fans.

BLACK PANTHER begins filming in early 2017 and releases on February 16, 2018.

CAPTAIN MARVEL releases on March 8, 2019.
