Summer break is officially over. The pools are closed and the leaves are starting to fall, but one good thing looms on the horizon. And that is the return of the CW’s DC television lineup and the debut of the second season of LEGENDS OF TOMORROW.

At the start of the second season, much has changed for our team. Gone are the villainous Time Masters. Gone is Captain Cold. Gone are the protectors of time itself, a role that Rip offers the team to take up in the defeat of Vandal Savage. Many of our heroes are still here. Ray Palmer, still proving to himself why he’s a hero. Heatwave, juggle both sides of his morals. Sara Lance, questioning her past and hoping her demons don’t come back to haunt her. And last but not least, here is the entrance of Rex Tyler, a.k.a. Hourman. A hero with a grave warning for the team.

The official season 2 synopsis reads:

"After the defeat of the immortal villain Vandal Savage and the corrupt Time Masters who colluded with him, a new threat emerges. Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), an unconventional and charming historian, is thrust into the action upon making a shocking discovery – the Legends are scattered throughout time. Nate must find a way to rescue season one’s beloved team of heroes and rogues, including billionaire inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh); Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), the White Canary; Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Jefferson 'Jax' Jackson (Franz Drameh), who together form the meta-human Firestorm; and Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), aka Heat Wave. When the Legends encounter the J.S.A (the Justice Society of America, the precursor to DC’s Justice League) in the 1940s, Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), aka Vixen, joins the team. While the team reunites, a mystery looms – the fate of former captain Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill). Once reunited, the Legends continue their new mission to protect the timeline from temporal aberrations – unusual changes to history that spawn potentially catastrophic consequences. When Nate, the grandson of J.S.A. member Commander Steel, unexpectedly finds himself with powers, he must overcome his own insecurities and find the hero within himself. Ultimately, the Legends will clash with foes both past and present, to save the world from a mysterious new threat."

With that synopsis comes the debuts of new characters and characters we’ve seen on other shows, to form the exciting tale we as viewers are on the verge of witnessing. From everyone to Vixen, Dr. Mid-Nite, Malcom Merlyn and the team of the JSA, let’s highlight a couple of the new faces about to grace our screens.

Dr. Nate Heywood: Actor Nick Zano joins the team as Heywood, a historian who slowly but surely discovers problems that will be facing the team. The grandson of JSA member Commander Steel who eventually takes the moniker “Citizen Steel,” most of us are all willing to bet it won’t be too long before we see Heywood don a costume and jump into action.

Eobard Thawne a.k.a. Reverse Flash: Thawne becomes one of the many DC characters who will show their faces across multiple shows in the universe. An adversary of Barry Allen who will appear in the upcoming new season of THE FLASH, it’s believed that Thawne may be the evil leader who forms what is to be the Season 2 “big bad,” The Legion of Doom.

Todd Rice a.k.a. Obsidian: JSA member Obsidian, who has me most excited due to the fact he’s partially being portrayed by horror movie icon, Lance Henriksen, brings a lot of weight to this upcoming season. My personal belief is that he’s going to play a fairly large part this season due to the connections to him and a certain Green Lantern and his sexuality have both been confirmed. Being played by Henriksen and another younger actor, I for one can’t wait to see his shadow-manipulating powers on the small screen.

With the upcoming debut of Season 2 on October 13 many questions are awaiting to be answered. Will everyone’s goals and heroic ambitions stay the same? Who will stay loyal and who will jump to the darkness come seasons end? How far will the evil of The Legion of Doom reach? There's only one way to find out.
