DOCTOR STRANGE Opens Big Overseas With $86 Million Which is More Than ANT-MAN, GUARDIANS and CAP 2

DOCTOR STRANGE opened this weekend overseas, while the U.S. waits for its release with late screenings starting on Wednesday night November 3. Launching in 33 countries, Marvel Studios' 14th film opened big with an estimated $86 million.

This is a remarkable opening for star Benedict Cumberbatch's DOCTOR STRANGE when we compare its $86M to some of the studios' previous International opening numbers:

ANT-MAN opened with $55M in 37 countries.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY opened to $66M in 41 markets.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER opened with $75M in 32 countries.

So DOCTOR STRANGE is in some great company and it's looking like our own box office projection of a $70M – $80M domestic opening weekend seems more on point than other sites' and it could/should open even bigger than $80M.

[Please note opening overseas numbers may be a bit off due to how many territories a film opened in, but it's impressive company at a glance regardless. All box office numbers sourced from BoxOfficeMojo.]
