DOCTOR STRANGE Director Already Has a Nightmarish Pitch for a Sequel

DOCTOR STRANGE isn't even out in U.S. theaters yet but director Scott Derrickson is very interesting in returning for a sequel, as long as the film produces big box office results and it's trending to get another movie sometime in Marvel's Phase 4 slate of films starting in 2020. But all of this isn't keeping him from sharing his pitch for DOCTOR STRANGE 2 to IGN.

“I really like the character of Nightmare and the concept that the Nightmare Realm is a dimension. [...] That’s early – that’s like the first Strange tale. I think that’s in the introductory episode of Doctor Strange, and I always loved that.
“We decided not to do that because that’s a bit of a complex idea to try to introduce everything we do introduce and introduce the idea of nightmares themselves as being a dimension. I hope somewhere down the line we do get to explore that because I think that’s super cool concept.”

Nightmare is a supervillain who goes all the way back to Doctor Strange's origin in the Silver Age of Marvel comic books and he rules the Dream Dimension in the comics universe. To read more about Nightmare on Marvel's official character page, click right here.

DOCTOR STRANGE releases in the states on November 4.
