Why Ben Affleck's Solo BATMAN Movie is Trending to Get a 2019 Release Date

Right now we know actor Ben Affleck is working on a solo BATMAN movie that he will not only star in but he is helping to develop, write as well as directing it. We also know the villain Deathstroke will be in the movie and played by actor Joe Manganiello. DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns also is helping Affleck develop the film.

What we don't know is when Affleck's BATMAN movie is coming out. At least we didn't know until Warner Bros. CEO Jeff Bewkes spoke at the 25th Annual Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference and gave a hint.

"Ben announced a Batman movie [that] he’s going to direct, star, write for – I think it’s a year and a half out..."

This is the first time we've heard any sort of timeframe for a solo BATMAN movie. Some fans might think this sounds like a potential release date, but it's most likely not and this sounds like when production and filming will begin.

The reason to assume this is when filming starts is a simple one because Warner Bros. has started production for their other DC super hero movies approximately a year and a half before its release. Using this as a basis for their DC movie production schedule means the solo BATMAN movie would have had to start production right now so it can release in a year and a half from now.

The solo BATMAN movie has not started production, so look for this movie to begin filming in about 18 months from now, as Bewkes hinted, and release in about three years from now sometime in 2019.
