Fox Signs on For Pilot Episodes For an Untitled X-MEN TV Series and DC's BLACK LIGHTNING

Television networks are picking up super hero shows left and right as ARROW, THE FLASH, SUPERGIRL, AGENTS OF SHIELD, GOTHAM, POWERLESS, LEGION, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW are already set to debut their newest season or premiere their first episode in the coming weeks and months.

Now, add two more to this list as Variety has confirmed Fox has picked up pilot episodes for the next DC TV series BLACK LIGHTNING as well as for an untitled X-Men series by writer Matt Nix along with Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, plus Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory all working together for this new untitled X-Men show. (Yes, we know the X-Men series news is old but it slipped under our radar.)

Helmed by super hero TV producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, Fox has not committed to a full or half season order of BLACK LIGHTNING yet, but committing to a pilot production episode is the first step to getting a larger episode order.

Over at TVLine, they have the reported logline for the new BLACK LIGHTNING TV series.

“Jefferson Pierce made his choice. He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.”

Marvel TV head Loeb said the following for the new X-Men show.

“Marvel Television is thrilled to be co-producing with 20th Century Fox Television on our first project. Matt’s a huge fan of ‘X-Men’ and his take on ‘X-Men,’ with its rich characters and high-stakes adventure, is exactly the show we want on Fox. It’s a great team of creative producers who will be making something entirely unique.”

Stay tuned because more information about these two new Fox shows that are officially in development will hit sooner than later.
