It's hard to think of any brand new Marvel character recently introduced by the publisher who has become as popular as Spider-Gwen has become in less than two years — maybe Mile Morales or X-23 had a quick fandom develop but definitely not as fast as Spider-Gwen. She was revealed the to comic book world, in November 2014, Marvel released the comic book 'Edge of Spider-Verse No. 2' which debuted an alternate universe Gwen Stacey as the one who was bitten by the radioactive spider to become Spider-Woman. She quickly became known as Spider-Gwen to Marvel fans and that name has stuck with her ever since.
Fast-forward to present day and Spider-Gwen is already so popular she has merchandise, shirts, toys, her own comic book title. But now she's making the jump to being an animated hero. According to IGN, Spider-Gwen is coming to the Disney XD animated series ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN in its Season 4 four-part mini-series event, 'Return to the Spider-Verse.'
Dove Cameron will be voicing Spider-Gwen and Part 1 of the 'Return to the Spider-Verse' mini-series Season 4 finale event debuts on Disney XD on August 27.
