First Look: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Concept Art Reveals Little Groot and Mantis

San Diego Comic-Con International is less than a week away and it's already been confirmed that Marvel Studios will have a big Hall H presentation and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 is also confirmed to be in attendance. In anticipation for the big pop culture event, and the sequel, Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first look at concept art for the film.

As you can see in these images, via EW and Marvel Studios, Groot is a 'little' different (we're calling him 'Little Groot') and you can see the first look at Pom Klementieff as new team addition, Mantis. Concept art designed by Marvel Studios visual development supervisor and concept artist Andy Park.

“[Groot] doesn’t have the wisdom and experience of that Groot [in the last movie],” executive producer Jonathan Schwartz says. “He’s a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that’s sprung up from the seed of the first Groot? 

“[Mantis] has never really experienced social interaction,” Schwartz continues to tease. “Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from.”

UPDATE: Here's a full look at the entire piece of concept art that will be given away as a poster randomly throughout SDCC at Marvel's booth (most likely at their booth but not yet confirmed).

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 releases on May 5, 2017.
