SUPERGIRL Season 2 Casts Tyler Hoechlin as SUPERMAN

Following the announcement that SUPERGIRL was moving to The CW, news was also released that we would finally see Supergirl’s cousin and fellow Kryptonian, Superman. While many fans have been hoping that Superman would be cast as an actor who has previously inhabited the role — Tom Welling from SMALLVILLE — the writers have decided to bring a fresh approach to the role. 

Known for his roles in ROAD TO PERDITION and TEEN WOLF, Tyler Hoechlin has been casted as the Man of Steel per The Hollywood Reporter.

How will he be incorporated into the role and will he be just a recurring character, or a regular? A major concern is that Superman could overshadow Supergirl’s role in her own show. Let’s face it, Superman is more well-known, but this is Kara Danvers’ show. To overshadow the main character would be a big mistake. Still, the new addition to the cast is exciting and many are waiting to see how Hoechlin embodies the role of Superman.
