CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is Most Definitely Setting Up the BLACK PANTHER Solo Movie

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is the first introduction of two new heroes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One being your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and the other being Black Panther. Both of these heroes have their own respective solo movies coming in the next two years and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told SlashFilm that Civil War helps to set-up BLACK PANTHER.

"We can [move forward with Black Panther from here]. We can deal with the after-effects of Captain America: Civil War and going back to Wakanda, and he’s dealing with a geopolitical landscape that’s completely different now. That’ll certainly set him off in his own movie."

Feige didn't confirm if BLACK PANTHER will be a standardized origin movie, but based on his quote it doesn't sound like it will be a full blown origin story.

BLACK PANTHER begins filming in early 2017 and releases on February 16, 2018.
