Geoff Johns Says His Role is to "Keep it True to the Comics" and Confirms He's Working on a BATMAN Movie

DC chief creative officer Geoff Johns is a name you're only going to be hear more and more as he is reportedly the new co-runner of DC Films, along with Warner Bros. executive Jon Berg. Neither Johns or Warner Bros. has yet to confirm the report.

As the past few days are gone by since the report hit the web, it sounds more like Johns is the person who has been placed in a position of authority when it comes to all-things DC comics and their use by Warner Bros. on any platform. Johns spoke with ComicBook about the topic of his role with Warner Bros. and DC.

“My job [at the moment] is to help other Warner Brothers divisions work with DC. I work with Warner TV and producers to get these shows up and running, in particular with The Flash, where I co-created the show, wrote a few episodes, wrote the pilot episode. I work with other people, Ames Kirshen in games, the studios like Rocksteady and Netherrealm, go in there on character choices, story they’re going to do and brainstorm on that, try to keep it true to comics”

He also confirmed he is working with Ben Affleck on the next BATMAN solo movie.

“I do get to say I’m working on Batman with Ben Affleck."

Regardless of Warner Bros. and DC not confirming that Johns is heading up DC Films, Johns has been saying all the right things to the media in the last few days. This does imply that he is in somewhat of a similar role as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige by overseeing the stories in an ever-growing movie universe as well as making sure character's are not mis-represented on the big screen.

Many fans will agree that having things "true to the comics" at the Warner Bros. and in the DC Extended Universe are exactly what's needed after the releases of MAN OF STEEL and BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
