King of Teasing is Back as Robert Downey Jr. Implies Possibility of IRON MAN in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Robert Downey Jr. was a guest and he brought with him a new CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR clip, as well as fellow #TeamIronMan members.

There was also a quick moment of conversation that was somewhat eye-opening. While speaking with Kimmel, the mention of Tony Stark / Iron Man possibly being in next summer's SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING came up. Downey, while seemingly excited of that potential, made sure to inform Kimmel that his current Marvel Studios contract does not include an appearance in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING.

"Perhaps I will, we don’t have a contract yet."

The biggest tease here is the "yet" part Downey added at the end. There's been rumors in the past claiming Tony Stark / Iron Man could appear in the first solo Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for months and months now. And quite frankly, it makes sense for Marvel Studios to give their first co-produced (with Sony) Spider-Man solo movie a big bump by bringing Iron Man into the mix. Studio head Kevin Feige recently confirming other Avengers will appear in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING definitely helps here, too.

Will this happen? We can only hope right now, but Donwey, being the King of Teasing, has done exactly what he wanted to do by teasing the possibility of it happening.

Well played as usual, Mr. Downey. And here's the video clip with the Spider-Man quote around the 45-second mark.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING begins filming this summer and releases on July 7, 2017.
