Sony and Marvel's SPIDER-MAN Movie Confirmed to Include Other MCU Heroes

In 1983, the animated series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends debuted.

In 2016, it's confirmed that Spider-Man's amazing friends, who are now his fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes after his debut in next month's CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, will be involved in his Sony and Marvel co-produced SPIDER-MAN movie next summer.

Here's the report from Entertainment Weekly, who got this confirmation from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige:

"Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told EW, yes – not only does Spidey end up helping Iron Man in Civil War, but the plan is for some Marvel Cinematic Universe stalwarts to appear in Spider-Man’s film. 'He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,' Feige said."

There's previously been rumors stating how Robert Downey Jr. might be renegotiating his Marvel Studios contract to appear in SPIDER-MAN, and it sounds like this is not only plausible now but there could be more than one MCU hero appearing.

It's unfortunate that Spidey can never share the big screen with the only character who actually annoys him, Deadpool, due to Fox owning this live action movie rights. But seeing Spidey share the screen with Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk and which ever other MCU hero who may be in the mix has immediately made next summer's SPIDER-MAN movie one of the most anticipated of 2017. (Like it wasn't already though.)

The still untitled SPIDER-MAN movie starts filming this summer and releases on July 7, 2017.
