DAREDEVIL Season 2 Helped to Set-Up THE DEFENDERS Ensemble Series

***This post contains SPOILERS for DAREDEVIL Season 2.***

Throughout DAREDEVIL Season 2, you see Matt Murdock thoroughly enjoy kicking bad guy ass as Daredevil. So much so that he misses important meetings and most of the trial of Frank Castle. As a one-man force against the crime of Hell's Kitchen, Murdock slowly learned that he really can't keep the streets clean all by himself. At the end of Season 2, he needs both Elektra and a sniping Punisher to deal with the many ninja of The Hand.

This realization by Murdock is actually some set-up for THE DEFENDERS, which actor Charlie Cox confirmed will start filing toward the end of 2016 for an estimated late 2017 premiere on Netflix.

Cox spoke to Empire about the topic of Daredevil needing help and how it begins some set-up for THE DEFENDERS series.

"He can’t do this alone. He’s been so adamant about being a lone wolf, about doing it himself, so I think that in order for him to get to The Defenders we needed this second season. We needed to see him be broken individually so that he can — he’s willing to form a team.
"The lesson that Matt has had to learn in the second season of Daredevil is that he needs help."

Murdock definitely will get help because THE DEFENDERS will have Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist team-up to fight off crime and villainy.
