Ewan McGregor Rumored to be in Talks For STAR WARS EPISODE VIII

If there is one Star Wars Prequel actor who deserves more time in a galaxy far, far away it's actor Ewan McGregor. Widely praised as the best overall acting performance in all of the prequel films as the younger version of Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was made famous by Sir Alec Guinness in the Original Trilogy.

It has already been revealed that McGregor was brought in during post-production to record a line during Rey's Force vision in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. This might have been the tip of the iceberg because a new rumor (h/t ScreenRant) claims McGregor might be in talks to return as Kenobi in writer/director Rian Johnson's STAR WARS EPISODE VIII. Obviously he would be a Force Ghost, unless there's some series of flashbacks.

If any of this is true, then there's a chance Luke Skywalker's self-imposed exile was not as lonely and secluded as one may have thought since Kenobi could have been "hanging out" with Luke the entire time he was on that little island training him in the ways of the Force from beyond the grave. (Maybe Yoda, too.)

Whether or not this rumor is true remains to be seen, but it's one of the few rumors that should become true because McGregor has told the media he'd love to return to the role. And he really does deserve a return whether it's in Episode VIII or a Kenobi standalone movie (which has been rumored the past few years) down the road.

STAR WARS EPISODE VIII begins full principle photography very soon in England and releases on December 15, 2017.
