Marvel CCO Joe Quesada Teases Punisher in DAREDEVIL and Debunks IRON FIRST Rumor

There's been a rumor making the rounds since June claiming Marvel Television is having trouble developing their Netflix series IRON FIST and the series is close to being canceled. This is pure rumor as there is no confirmation for it and now Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada has debunked it to IGN.

“Iron Fist is being worked on. That’s all that I can say."

Short and sweet without further detail but all that rumor talk that IRON FIST isn't happening needs to be put to rest. Moving on...

Quesada, then, teased actor Jon Bernthal's performance as Frank Castle a.k.a. the Punisher in DAREDEVIL Season 2.

"...I can tell you is anyone who is a hardcore Punisher fan is going to be blown away and incredibly satisfied by Bernthal’s take on Frank Castle. It’s one of those cases where it’s the character from the pages come to life.”

He went on to tease how (of course) Marvel would love for Bernthal's Punisher to get his own Netflix spin-off show.

"I think we’d love to see something happen, but it’s way too soon to tell, and we don’t necessarily like to discuss which metrics we use to decide these things."

If Bernthal's performance as the Punisher is as good as Quesada is hyping it up to be then it's a safe bet to say Netflix could give Punisher his own series as soon as 2017 or 2018.

DAREDEVIL Season 2 premieres exclusively on Netflix in the second quarter of 2016 and IRON FIST is tentatively scheduled to premiere on the streaming channel in the second quarter of 2017.
