CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Director Talks About the BLACK PANTHER Suit

While everyone is talking about the fight between Captain America and Winter Soldier versus Iron Man at the end of the new CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR trailer, the first official appearance of Black Panther in the teaser is something co-director Joe Russo spoke about to Empire.

Actor Chadwick Boseman is BLACK PANTHER (whose real name is T'Challa) and previously the only official look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new character was concept art released back in October 2014. The Civil War trailer revealed the official on-screen look and the Russo brother spoke about his suit.

“It’s a combination of a practical costume and VFX. It’s a vibranium weave, a mesh, almost like a chainmail. Luminescence is something we have to do in post [production]. He’s there for a very different reason which brings him into conflict with Cap and his team. His motivations are not [Steve Rogers and his team's] motivations.”

Black Panther's motivations are still unknown but it can be speculated that it's about either the exposure, and villainous use, of his country's (Wakanda) vibranium in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Or maybe the Winter Soldier had a hand at taking out T'Challa's father, a former Black Panther, T'Chaka, when Bucky Barnes was a brainwashed assassin for Hydra.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR releases on May 6, 2016.
