DOCTOR STRANGE: Marvel Studios Head Confirms Origin Story Despite Internet Rumors Saying it Won't

A while back a rumor hit the web claiming Marvel Studios was over the whole 'origin story concept' in their films. While that was aggregated across many website, the fact of the matter is that without some form of an origin story fans unaware of Doctor Strange probably won't understand how he became the Master of the Mystic Arts.

Even ANT-MAN was an origin story and many, including The Daily SuperHero, thought it was Marvel Studios' best origin film since IRON MAN. ANT-MAN slightly altered the mold of a standard origin story seen previously in the super hero movie genre by not showing Hank Pym create his Pym Particles and it was merely glanced over. But not so much were you didn't understand Pym and the Ant-Man suit origin. Marvel Studios tilted the 'origin story concept' a bit and it worked well.

Next up is the origin of DOCTOR STRANGE, which begins filming in England in November.

While promoting the Blu Ray release of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, studio head Kevin Feige spoke about the topic of DOCTOR STRANGE and his origin confirming it will be in the movie (via IGN).

"For some reason people sometimes talked about how we're not doing an origin story, we're bored of origin stories. I think people are bored of origin stories they've seen before or origin stories that are overly familiar," Feige explained. "Doctor Strange has one of the best, most classic, most unique origin stories of any hero we have, so why wouldn't we do that? That was sort of always the plan. How you tell that origin, perhaps there are ways to twist it or play with that, but for the most part, it's a gift when the comics have something with such clarity of story and of character. That doesn't always happen in the comics, and when it does, you use it."

So there you have it... there will be some form of an origin story told in DOCTOR STRANGE so stop thinking it won't.
