STAR WARS EPISODE VIII Ireland Filming Location May Have Revealed a Spoiler

This post may contain SPOILERS for STAR WARS EPISODE VIII. You've been warned.

STAR WARS EPISODE VIII has begun filming scenes in Ireland at Skellig Michael, which is a recurring location in the Star Wars universe since scenes for THE FORCE AWAKENS were shot there too. It's been reported that Mark Hamill was in Ireland to film, sans his beard, and now the website Irish Mirror (via SlashFilm) is reporting actor Daisy Ridley was seen there as well as Rey.

"Daisy was filming a fighting scene from 8am one day in a flat area up a first set of steps. The effects team made some fake rocks. They looked incredible, just like the real thing, those who have never been to the island wouldn’t have realised [sic] they were fake. One of them was placed where Daisy shot one of the action scenes. She was swinging around. You’d imagine they’ll add her lightsabers during the editing…"

In the two teasers and all of the marketing for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS there has been no sign of Rey wielding a lightsaber... Finn is holding one. So this could be a huge clue that Rey could be training with Luke Skywalker at this location in Episode VIII (speculation). This would fit perfectly into the homage of this new trilogy mirroring the original trilogy since Luke trained in the second film, STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

Nothing has been confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney, of course, but this could be the first clue Rey is indeed Force sensitive and lead to more speculation that she could be the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia since her last name is still unknown.

STAR WARS EPISODE VIII releases on May 26, 2017.
