CIVIL WAR: Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie Talk About the Bond Between Captain America, Falcon and Winter Soldier

As CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER ended a sequel was set up as both Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson / Falcon were set to start searching for Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier. This is one of most important story arcs in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

While at last weekend's D23 Expo, actors Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie spoke with MTV about the bond between Cap, Falcon and Winter Soldier in next summer's sequel.

"The relationship between the three characters is more so of a bond of kindred friendship," Mackie said. "My respect for Cap... helps me to help him find Bucky because I know how much that means to him. Knowing where he's come from and everything, what he's going through at this point. So it's more so of an understanding and a respect than it is three guys chumming around having a good time."

Evans chimed in.

"Cap... coming off the last movie, Falcon is the one guy who — actually knowing the least in terms of history — he actually trusts the most," Evans said. "And so coming into this movie there's a nice kinship between these two characters. They do a good job of picking up where they left off in the last movie.

The two actors then spoke more about this topic at Disney's D23 Expo with IGN.

"We definitely have gloves on, but it’s more of a family dispute. That’s what’s so great about this movie and the characters and how they work together," Mackie continued. "It’s more so when you have a sibling rivalry. The reason people can relate to these characters so much is because they can relate to what they’re going through; everybody’s fought with one of their siblings or one of their friends, wanted to make up with them, but couldn’t figure out the best way to do it and that’s kind of how Civil War works."

Evans chimed in again.

"I feel like families… you have more struggles with the people you love because you care about them," Evans said. "You can’t leave them, you have to make this work. It just feels like when you have a family dynamic of people that you may not get along with, but you can’t just cut them out of your life, that’s what makes the stakes so high."

While all the hype is surrounding the showdown between Captain America and Iron Man, as well as with the introduction of Spider-Man and Black Panther, the plot line following Cap, Falcon and Winter Soldier is one that is just as important to this film than anything and everything else in it.
