BATMAN V. SUPERMAN - Ben Affleck Continues to Reveal Why BATMAN is Involved

Last week, Entertainment Weekly opened the news flood gates by revealing their San Diego Comic-Con 2015 issue and lots of interviews, images and commentary in the issue that is currently available in stores now. BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE headlined most of the new information and Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman graced its newsstand and subscription cover.

Some of the following info could be considered somewhat spoiler-y but it was published by Entertainment Weekly so it shouldn't be considered as such. Regardless, if you don't want to know then STOP reading now. Otherwise, read on after the image.

Actor Ben Affleck teased the involvement of Batman in the film.

"'He’s on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it,' says Affleck. 'But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical.' [EW then writes:] Worried that Superman’s unequaled power makes him more of a potential fascistic overlord than the hero we need, he makes it his duty to take him out of the sky for good."

Also teased was that Bruce Wayne knows who Wonder Woman really is in a scene between Gal Gadot and himself (pictured above).

"Batman and Wonder Woman have a meeting of alter-egos as Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince parry and flirt at a high-society function. 'I love the fact that there was this Thomas Crowne Affair, Bond-y sexy scene that they wrote about two people who are pretending to be two different people who each know the secrets of the other person,' says Ben Affleck."

Finally, Affleck disclosed (to EW) that the events in MAN OF STEEL affected Bruce Wayne so much that he lost one of his buildings in the film's final battle.

"One of the things I liked was Zack’s idea of showing accountability and the consequences of violence and seeing that there are real people in those buildings. And in fact, one of those buildings was Bruce Wayne’s building so he knew people who died in that Black Zero event."
