Zack Synder Shares Initial Pitch For BATMAN V. SUPERMAN and Ben Affleck Teases Why Batman is Involved

Next week at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, Warner Bros. is looking to own the biggest headlines by bringing the main cast of BATMAN V. SUPERMAN to their Hall H presentation. Entertainment Weekly has revealed new images for the movie as well as having Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman on the cover of their SDCC special edition issue.

EW spoke with director Zack Snyder who shared his initial pitch for the movie.

"I said, ‘What about at the end of the movie we do a scene where there’s a crate full of kryptonite delivered to Wayne Manor.' Everyone was like…‘Okaay.’ Once you say it out loud it’s a problem because you can’t unsay it."

Actor Ben Affleck then teased Batman's involvement.

"'He’s on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger and the rage that we see haunt this character in the other manifestations of it,' says Affleck. 'But this guy is further down the line and has become more embittered and cynical.' [EW then writes:] Worried that Superman’s unequaled power makes him more of a potential fascistic overlord than the hero we need, he makes it his duty to take him out of the sky for good."

BATMAN V. SUPERMAN releases on March 25, 2016 and here's its official synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
