William Hurt Grins Right Before Saying He Doesn't Know if GENERAL ROSS Will Become RED HULK

Will Marvel Studios bring the Red Hulk into the playground that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon? If you're not a comic book fan you probably don't understand this question, so let me quickly teach you about Red Hulk in the comic book universe.

General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross is the Red Hulk (a.k.a. Rulk) in the comic book world and became the red rage monster in 2008. He is literally a red version of Bruce Banner's green Hulk but uninhibited and tactically advanced opponent of the Hulk. Ross became this red monster via a modern version of the Super Soldier Program. To read more about Rulk, click here.

Actor William Hurt played Ross in THE INCREDIBLE HULK and he is reprising his role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. There has also been an unconfirmed rumor floating around the web claiming there's a chance Ross could turn into the Red Hulk at some point in either Civil War or in a future Phase 3 movie.

The Wall Street Journal took advantage of their video interview opportunity with Hurt to ask him about possibility of becoming Rulk. And Hurt couldn't help but give a big grin before saying he doesn't know.

Here's that grin...

And here's what Hurt had to say when asked about coming back to work in Marvel Studios' sandbox.

"It's very very different from [THE INCREDIBLE HULK], and the style is completely modernized. So I'm not playing the graphic novel version of Thaddeus Ross. I'm playing... [he pauses]... a better suit."

Hurt then gave the camera that grin in the above screenshot and answered a question about maybe becoming Red Hulk.

"I don't know, I wouldn't mind feeling like I had that much power. But I created Thaddeus originally as an ego the same size as the monsters."
This is just the next actor in a long list of ones who cannot keep a good poker face when directly asked about the possibility of a Marvel role. Paul Rudd couldn't keep a straight face, Chadwick Boseman couldn't either and there's been a few others in recent years.

Does this mean Civil War might set up Red Hulk for a future showdown against Bruce Banner's Hulk? If you love giant rage monsters rampaging and destroying everything in their path, then we can only hope and cross our fingers right now. Although the grin that Hurt makes pretty much implies it is in the works even though Hurt didn't confirm anything at all.

Some people just have a terrible poker face.

Finally, here's the video interview with Hurt and the Marvel stuff is toward the last third of the video.
